Frequently Asked Questions
My community does not have a Head Start program anymore?
False. Childcare Network is the new official program provider or grantee. We received our official notice of award on July 23, 2015. Since that time, we have been working hard to deliver a world-class program for your community.
Is there more than one Head Start program?
No. There is only one official Head Start grantee in each community. Community Action for Improvement (CAFI) is former grantee. Their program officially ended on June 30, 2015.
Will I be expected to pay a fee?
No. The Head Start and Early Head Start program are FREE. As an additional service, certain locations will offer extended care before and/or after the six-hour school day care for a nominal fee.
When will the buildings open and services resume?
Certain locations will open on September 14 with a second-round opening in early October. However, CAFI has retained certain facilities for other non Head Start uses which has created a shortage of classrooms. We are diligently seeking replacement facilities for these classrooms. As a result, service in certain areas will be delayed. However, once we begin, we plan to operate the program on a year-round basis with a short break during July.
How can I stay up-to-date on the program in my area?
We will continue to provide updates on Facebook page
